There’s a lot to talk about this elections, from the inclusion of Elizabeth May (Green Party) to the fights for the second place (between Jack Layton and Dion), which doesn’t help much! Does it? In the middle of that basket May is doing better, a very good friend of mine told me last by-election that he would like to see the Green Party leader debating with the other three candidates, let’s see what’s going to happen to the Greens after this election – I’m glad I can see all of this because I’m very sick at home with tonsillitis , can’t go out or do much. And that’s for the last three days; only bed, sofa, papers, books, laptop and TV!
Even tough I watch the Canadian debate, and I like to understand how all the interest from their platform are presented, I didn’t want to watch the US vice-president candidates debate, it doesn’t make sense to see that.
One interesting thing was when someone sent me an email about this NGO that is spreading a song to prevent the voters to re-elect Harper with a majority government. The song is signed by a number of Canadian musicians like K-OS, Ed from Barenaked Ladies, Sarah Harmer, Hawksley Workman, Jason Collett from Broken Social Scene, and the tittle of that track is You Have a Choice and is available for free download. To listen to that song click here You have a choice.

Para escutá-la clique You have a choice.[/lang_pt]There’s a lot to talk about this elections, from the inclusion of Elizabeth May (Green Party) to the fights for the second place (between Jack Layton and Dion), which doesn’t help much! Canadenses escolherão novo governo
Everybody in Canada is asking why there was a moment this week when was announced that the Green Party wouldn’t be allowed to show up at the ‘Prime Minister’ elections TV debate. More confusing was when suddenly NDP leader Jack Layton and Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced they wouldn’t participate in the debate if Elizabeth May, GP leader, was kept out of the ‘show’.
Is it a reason for all this soap opera to happen?
Elizabeth May is openly supporting the Liberals, and that would be the reason Layton and Harper – behind curtains – decided to stop their engines and did a ‘U’ turn by saying the opposite. It’s clear the Greens have something to say in this election (Kyoto, gas, climate change) and the population is aware of it. Maybe that was what the Green Party vehicle and Elizabeth May needed, a little free push from the 8 cylinder parties in Canada, the liberals were heavy-duty cars, and hybrids.
The elections will happen (October 14, 2008) only because Harper had called it just months after he passed the fixed-elections-date legislation, which he swore was the best way to stop governments from calling snap elections – which he just did.
Doesn’t it sound like a soap opera?
